Prayer for National Coming Out Day
Loving God,
On this National Coming Out Day, we lift up all your children who have found the courage to live truthfully and openly. We give thanks for those who were met with love, for families and friends who wrapped them in acceptance and joy. May their affirmation be a sign of your boundless grace at work in the world.
We also pray for those who were rejected, silenced, or made to feel unworthy because of who they are. Hold them close when the world turns cold. Let them know that they are still whole, still beautiful, and still made in your image. Comfort them with the assurance that your love is greater than any human rejection.
You are the God who embraces all, who sees beyond fear and difference, who delights in the diversity of your creation. You welcome every person regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, and you call us to do the same. Help your Church and your people to reflect that radical welcome, to be places where truth is celebrated and love overcomes shame.
Strengthen the hearts of those who walk this journey alone, that they may find chosen family, gentle companions, and a community of care. Guide all of us to be voices of compassion and defenders of dignity, so that every person may live freely as the one you created them to be.
Amen.
