Prayer for the victims of the Afghanistan earthquake

Heavenly Father,

Our hearts are heavy today for the people of Afghanistan, especially those struck by the powerful earthquake in the east. More than 800 lives have been lost, and thousands of others lie wounded or missing. Families sift through rubble with trembling hands, hoping for signs of life that are too often absent. Rescue teams work tirelessly, yet aid feels like it might never reach enough hands at the right time.

Lord, we lift up the survivors—the shaken, the grieving, the calling out in the rubble, and the desperate searchers who hold onto hope. Grant them strength amid such sorrow. Comfort the bereaved with Your presence. Shield the injured with care and healing. Be a steadfast companion to the missing.

We pray for the rescuers and aid workers risking their lives to bring relief. Give them courage, clarity, and compassion. Make logistics smoother, roads passable, and communications clear. May every helicopter flight, first aid station, and helping hand reflect Your love.

God of mercy, where resources are scarce and time is short, be the source of provision. Where hope seems lost, be the light that perseveres. Multiply each effort, stretch every supply, and guide every moment of response.

Finally, we pray for the world to act—not in pity, but in solidarity. May generous hearts respond swiftly, not just with supplies but with prayer, advocacy, and lasting commitment to rebuilding.

In Jesus’ name, the healer of broken hearts, we pray. Amen.
