God calls you to lead

“Sometimes God calls us to be leaders. Sometimes God wants you to lead,” Pastor Kristin Hutson said to the children during the sermon for young folks on Palm Sunday.

We are all endowed with certain gifts. And there are times that God is inspired to put those gifts to use when it’s needed. That’s when we get the call. We have to be open to hearing that call when it happens and to say, “Here I am.”

Sometimes accepting a call makes sense and is easy to take on.

Sometimes the call is a challenging one, or even a scary one when it means you need to tackle some tough situations and make tough choices.

Sometimes it takes bravery to accept a call.

In the Presbyterian tradition, the call is not limited to certain people. We are taught as a foundation of our faith that there are many opportunities to serve and to lead—not only in church but also in the community. And we are called to use our special gifts, whatever they are, to serve one another.

When you hear the call, answer. Answer, “Here I am.”
