Israel and Iran: God demands peace, not war

Edgewater Presbyterian Church, as a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA), stands firmly in the belief that war must never be the first response between nations.
Our denomination has long upheld the call of Christ to be peacemakers, insisting that diplomacy, dialogue, and justice—not violence—must guide the path forward.
Among us are many who condemn the recent military actions carried out by the State of Israel against Iran, as well as the retaliatory strikes by Iran against Israel.
These acts of aggression—no matter who initiates them—inflict untold suffering on civilians and escalate the cycle of violence.
We grieve for all lives lost and for communities now living in fear.
As followers of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, we call on global leaders to pursue peace with courage and humility.
Let us not allow the politics of vengeance to drown out the cries of the innocent.
May we all be led by the Spirit to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.
